Dedicated to my Mother

"All for you Dad"

The first thing I would like to say to you is thank you. You have been there for me and Cheryl the whole time. And if it had not been for you, I am not sure what we would be like today. I can only try to explain to the world what a great father you are. Sure we have all had problems from time to time. I don't think that there is a family out there who does not have some kind of problems. The thing that means most to me, is that somehow we remained strong no matter what problem it was. I strongly believe that was because of you. You were strong. You taught us well. And I can only hope that we have shown you that your parenting was everything and more then what was ever expected.

I do remember the times we had together. I remember the things we did as a family. They were important to me whether or not I showed it at the time. I think you never really appreciate what you have till its gone. And in the time I have spent away from you in Georgia, I have relised that I want those things back. Its also given me time to think about things more. And to understand that it those things I miss. Time to go fishing, and hey with me like this, maybe even mowing your lawn will seem more exciting to me now then it did when I was 15. I think at that age I focused more on me then anything else. I did not relise how important something like boating on the lake, and fishing late at night could be to a family.

I do know this, I can only hope that I will be as good a father with my son as you are with me. You were given a lot to take in at one time when Mom died. Not only did you have to deal with someone real close to you dying, you had to be strong and raise two kids. You did a great job Dad. And it matters nothing to me what people have said in the past. They have never had to deal with what you did all at once. Thanks Dad. Me and Cheryl love you very much for it all.

Joan

I just thought that you deserved some words for what you have done as well. You came into a family that was dealing with some big issues. But you did a very good job of pulling it all together. I know you and I have had our times where it seemed we would never get along. I apoligize for all that. I thank you for sticking around through all the tough times. I am very glad that you and my father became married. He needed you and so did we. And even though I know that noone could ever replace my mother in flesh, you were the one who was closest to the defination that follows the word, "Mother." I love you Joan. And just wanted to find a way to say Thank-you for being in my life. I hope you and I can be closer when I make the move back to Maine. It would mean a lot to do things with you.
